 Four months ago the Dixie Stroller of Ft Myers were hire for two Friday nights as an experiment by The Fr Myers Downtown Re-development Corp.
They not only caught on to the patrons of Downton ; they have been warmly received by many of the local resturants on First Street and off shoots of fir Street. So much so that the resturants like Morgans and the French Connectios eagerly await the 6:30Pm arrival of the Strollers . Their reportua of some 60 to 80 old Dixieland songs they play, without the benefit of any music, keeps their audiences attention week after week. The band is made up of four musicians Bob Anderson on Clarine, Jim Steele, on Tuba, Al Antonini on his Dizzy Gillespi Trmpe and Gerry French on Tenor Banjo plus vocals. So well accepted is the band that the Ft Myers News Press has decided to run a promotion article on the band during the month of March in the Sunday addition of Tropicallia Section.
