Racquetball Underground of SW Florida brings courts and players together

This new RB program is designed to maximise the use of under utilized RB facilities with existing RB payers

Four wall Racquetball is a sport that requires a special court .Commercial gyms that invested in this sport over the past 15  to 20 years have slowly decreased the number of RB courts as a result of a growing interest in workout machines and the need for space to house these machines. Fewer RB courts means less available time to play the sport. Less available Court time means fewer RB memberships for the club. This drop in RB memberships is offset by an increased in workout memberships for the Club. With less available time to play ,RB players begin to  shift to other sports; however they never give up their love for the sport. Over a period of 10 years the availability of RB courts in commercial fitness clubs in SW Florida has decreased significantly. At the same time the number of RB players in the area has increased because of the high population growth in SW Florida counties like Lee and Collier .

On the other hand with the increase in the number of Country clubs and Gated Communities the availability of different types of private sports facilities has increased. Many remain under utilized because the domain they serve (i.e. members) is to small to support a particular sport like RB, or badminton or tennis. End results? Facilities become under utilized and are often eliminated because of the lack of use.

The Racquetball Underground™ has been developed by Gerry French to eliminate this problem a by marrying  underutilized facilities with available players. Its structure and methods could be applied to oter sports such as tennis, shuffleboard, pickleball etc.
